Maths Week 2016

We had so much fun celebrating Maths Week 2016. We invited parents in to play maths games on Maths for Fun Day. We also designed some maths art work for our whole school Maths Competition.

Green Schools Competition

Our class has entered an art competition being run by Galway City Council. The theme of the competition is Keep Galway Litter Free (Coinnigh Gaillimh Glan). Here are some of our entries.
We hope that some of our art work is chosen to get into the Primary Schools Environment Calendar this year.

Helping your child with Gaeilge

I would encourage you to take every opportunity to use whatever little bit of Gaeilge that you may have with your children. Encourage your child to use the phrases they have learned in school if they use them at home. The more they can hear Gaeilge used in everyday conversation the more it will grow on their ear.

www.isfeidirliom.ie This is a free online course designed by a primary school teacher for parents or anyone who would like to help children learn Irish.  The course is self paced and you can click in and out of the 10 lessons in your own time.

www.focloir.ie This a new free English-Irish Dictionary and is available free of charge. It is a contemporary dictionary which covers both general language use and terminology.

www.eascapeasca.com/index.php  This website will give you some simple words and phrases to link in with what your child is learning in school.

www.potafocal.com This is an online dictionary that will translate Irish to English or English to Irish.

www.leighleat.com  This site has some ebooks which you can listen to and/or read with your child. They range from picture books to stories to poems.

http://www.cula4.com/ga/home/ This site provides programmes and games that will support language skills in Irish. Your child will benefit greatly from listening to spoken Irish regularly at home & they will enjoy the programmes on Cúla 4. If you're not confident in Irish, click on the English button to translate the site.

http://www.schooldays.ie/articles/Irish-apps-for-kids This website introduces you to Irish Apps which may be useful in helping your child with his/her homework, or just improving their Irish in general.

First Day in 2nd class

We had lots of fun on our first day back to school.

It was so exciting to see all our  friends again and to welcome lots of new children to our class.
